Classic skiing is the original and most traditional form of cross-country skiing. Using parallel tracks set into the snow, skiers move with a natural gliding motion that is intuitive to learn and enjoyable to master. Combining graceful movement with beautiful winter landscapes, classic skiing remains the most popular way to experience the sport.

Our Learn to Classic holidays are designed specifically for complete beginners, combining expert coaching with gentle terrain and supportive small-group learning. Our experienced coaches break every technique down into simple, achievable steps, helping you develop confidence and control from your very first day on skis.

Each day blends focused coaching sessions with enjoyable journeys through beautiful winter landscapes, allowing you to put new skills into practice while experiencing the unique rewards of cross-country skiing. By the end of the week, you'll have built a strong foundation in classic technique and the confidence to continue your skiing journey.

For most people, we recommend learning Classic Skiing before progressing to Skate Skiing. As the original and most traditional form of cross-country skiing, classic technique is generally more intuitive to learn and provides an excellent introduction to the sport.

Classic skiing develops the fundamental skills of balance, coordination and weight transfer that underpin all cross-country skiing. Once these foundations are established, many skiers find the transition to skate skiing much easier and more enjoyable.

For most first-time skiers, classic skiing provides the strongest foundation for long-term progression and enjoyment.
